Call for Applications: Night Council 2025-2027 Cohort

Inspire the nights of tomorrow

The MTL 24/24 Night Council is a citizens' forum dedicated to Montreal's nightlife. It is composed of 12 committed Montrealers who are passionate about the dynamic, inclusive, and positive development of the city's nightlife.

Its role:

  • Representing the diversity of nighttime realities
  • Providing an open platform for dialogue
  • Highlighting issues and proposing courses of action

The Night Council’s mandate is based on organizing Night Exchanges, a series of public meetings designed to bring together stakeholders in the community and create a space for discussion open to all.

Members are responsible for choosing topics, moderating panels (or appointing an external moderator), and receive support from MTL 24/24. They also commit to participating in four reflective workshops per year and organizing, in pairs, two Échanges nocturnes per year.

Being a member of the Night Council offers:

  • A unique opportunity to learn about democratic citizenship;
  • The chance to put your experience and expertise to good use for Montreal’s nightlife community;
  • The opportunity to develop new skills, enrich your knowledge, and expand your network;
  • And above all, a real chance to share your ideas, amplify your voice, and help shape the future of Montreal’s nightlife.

What we're looking for

Twelve Montrealers from different nightlife backgrounds will make up the Night Council for a two-year term.

  • Night workers: People working in nighttime professions, services, or activities, including the cultural sector, events, public services, etc.
  • Artists and creators: Musicians, DJs, performers, and all artistic practices related to nighttime.
  • Experts and researchers: Students, professionals, or researchers in urban planning, culture, economics, social sciences, or public health working on nighttime issues.
  • Community actors and engaged citizens: People involved in prevention, health, safety, harm reduction, mediation, inclusion, and diversity.
  • Operators and organizers: Managers of independent venues, cultural bars, nightclubs, community spaces, as well as promoters and emerging collectives.
  • Any other night owls who care about Montreal’s nightlife!
